A new phenomenon can be seen in the streets of Gothenburg, Sweden: one of the world’s first mobile machines operated by water hydraulics. It is equipped with Nessie^â water hydraulics from Danfoss and has been in use since the summer of 1997.

The food industry is one of the areas that has been familiar with Nessie^â water hydraulics for some years, but now the system can be seen in mobile applications too.

In cooperation with Danfoss, the Swedish company Broddway AB has developed an environmentally-friendly mechanical sweeper for the Gothenburg City Council Street Cleaning Department. The new features of the machine are that the pump, valves, cylinders and motors in the hydraulic system are operated by ordinary drinking water - and that the system not only drives the various machine functions, it does so outdoors where it is exposed to dust and dirt.
